Our local programs include agriculture and natural resources, 4-H youth development, gardening and community horticulture, and food safety and preservation. In addition, Washington State University provides a broad range of consumer publications (link), online educational opportunities, and other statewide educational programs and technical assistance from four research and extension centers and 11 colleges.

2024 Master Food Preserver Registration is now open!

The WSU Master Food Preserver (MFP) program is a volunteer outreach program designed to bring research-based information to the public. Any Benton or Franklin county resident, eighteen years of age or older, is eligible for the program. The individual should have an interest in food safety/preservation. Learn more about our Master Food Preserver program and how to register.

Your Budding Romance with Lavender Class - April 13th

From the beautiful blooms to the calming scent, lavender is a favorite in most gardens. Join our WSU Master Gardener volunteers to learn more about growing and enjoying lavender in our area. Class will be held at Mid-Columbia Library and is free to the public.

Benton Franklin Master Gardeners Earn International Award

Our amazing WSU Master Gardeners of Benton & Franklin Counties earned first place in the David Gibby Search for Excellence Award in Youth Programming for their work “Washington Working with Incarcerated Youth: Growing and Giving Back to the Community” Watch the video explaining this exceptional program.
