Welcome to Whitman County
Washington State University Whitman County Extension connects the people of Whitman County to the research and knowledge bases of the state’s land-grant research university, providing solutions to local problems and stimulating local economies. Our county-based educators work with partners in your communities to offer educational programs that leverage the broad resources of a major university to create a positive future for the residents of Whitman County.
Our local programs include agriculture and natural resources, 4-H youth, gardening and community horticulture, and food safety and preservation. In addition, Washington State University provides a broad range of consumer publications, online educational opportunities, and other statewide educational programs and technical assistance from four research and extension centers and 11 colleges.

In 2014, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which established the Cooperative Extension Service. The result of a unique educational partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the nation’s land-grant universities, Extension engages people, organizations and communities through programs to advance knowledge, economic well-being and quality of life by fostering inquiry, learning, and the application of research.
Join us as we celebrate Extension’s past contributions and look forward to the next 100 years of service. To learn more, visit.
